MPI 2027 · 6–13 JUNE · URI, SWITZERLAND
Beyond the Score
Expression Through Interpretationâ„¢
Each June, flutists from around the world gather high above Bürglen, in the heart of the Swiss Alps, for a week of study with Marina Piccinini. Music here is explored as a complete discipline, of mind, body and imagination, in a community that listens closely and grows together.
THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE INSTITUTE
The deepest artistry lies beyond the notes on the page. Discovering it can transform the way a musician listens, thinks and plays.
THREE WAYS TO TAKE PART
One morning masterclass. Three ways to spend the afternoon.
Performer
Selected by video audition
Play in Marina Piccinini's masterclass with repertoire of your own choosing, and explore the layers of meaning that lie beyond the printed page. Performers also join the orchestral excerpt class and chamber music.

Sunset drinks, reserved for auditors
Join us for the whole week, attend every masterclass and listen in on all the afternoon sessions. Auditors are also invited to an evening of their own with Professor Piccinini.
THE RHYTHM OF THE WEEK
Music as a complete discipline
Inspired in part by Marina Piccinini's longtime practice of kung fu, MPI treats music as a discipline that engages mind, body and imagination together. The week is shaped with great care, with intensive work balanced by listening, conversation and time in the mountains.

AN EXTRAORDINARY SETTING
Above Bürglen, beside the gondola, among the Alps

Below lies the Vierwaldstättersee, a fjord-like lake of emerald and turquoise. Lucerne is thirty minutes away by train, Zurich an hour, Milan an hour and a half.
