Esihle Mthethwa is an undergraduate flutist at the Royal College of Music in London, studying with Emer McDonough and Sue Thomas. She is a Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Scholar, fully supported by the RCM.

She won 3rd prize in the 2024 Yamaha South Africa Young Soloists Competition and received the 2023 Fine Music Radio Classical Instrumental Award. A laureate of the 2022 National Youth Music Competition, where she placed second overall and won the woodwind category, Esihle has also appeared as a soloist with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra at events including their Variety Gala and Youth Classical Concert. In August 2024, she performed in New York with the Africa United Youth Orchestra as part of Carnegie Hall’s World Orchestra Week.
