MPIMC Concerto Competition 2024

After the highly successful inaugural collaboration with the Farnborough Symphony Orchestra of the United Kingdom in 2022, MPIMC is proud to announce the return of the MPIMC Concerto Competition!

The concerto competition is open to all performer-participants of the 2024 MPIMC. There will be a recorded preliminary round, from which 6 finalists will be chosen to perform in the final round in Switzerland during MPIMC for a panel of judges, public audience and fellow MPIMC particpants.

MPIMC will fly the winner of the competition to London to perform a Concerto during the 25-26 FSO season under the direction of Music Director William Carslake.

GUIDELINES AND APPLICATION 

  • Open to all Performer-Participants of the 2024 MPIMC

  • There is no age limit

  • Applicants must

    • fill out the application form by April 1st

    • include the application fee of $25 with application

    • upload two videos with application:

      • 1- First movement (with Cadenza) of either Mozart K 313 or Mozart K.314 Concerto

      • 2- a Concerto of choice

  • Six finalists will be selected from the videos by a diverse panel of judges from around the world.

  • Announcement of the finalists will be made on the first day of MPIMC

  • The six finalists will perform their Concerto of Choice (performances will a maximum of 20 minutes; selected movements are also acceptable if the concerto exceeds this duration) during MPIMC 2024 for a panel of judges (TBA) as well as an audience. They will have the opportunity to rehearse with our Staff pianist.

  • Announcement of the Winner and runner-up will be made after the Closing Recital on June 8.

  • The winner will perform a Concerto of their choice, in consultation with MPIMC and FSO Music Director Bill Calrslake, during the 2025/26 concert season. MPIMC will underwrite all travel and lodging costs.
