Code of Conduct
We expect our students to meet the highest standards of behavior, both in personal deportment and in dedication to musical pursuits. The rules of the MPIMC Code of Conduct apply both in and out of the courses. They include a commitment to musical and personal integrity, respect for all members of the community, regard for the basic rules of physical safety, and cooperation with adult supervision. To this end, participants must adhere to the Code of Conduct (see below). The MPIMC cannot accommodate those who are unwilling or unable to live up to these expectations.
1. Participants will uphold musical and personal integrity, respecting the ideas and property of others, and will ensure that those around them do the same.
2. Participants will behave in a friendly, cooperative, safe and responsible manner towards all persons in the MPIMC and in the local community. All questions pertaining to the MPIMC courses should only be directed to the staff of the MPIMC.
3. Participants promise to respect individuals of different races, cultures, religions, genders, sexual orientations, ages, disabilities and national origins.
4. Participants shall attend their entire scheduled curriculum and arrive promptly to all scheduled events. Practicing during scheduled activities is not permitted.
5. Participants shall make every effort to offer their full and undivided attention to the courses. Whenever possible, restroom breaks should be taken before and after events to avoid coming and going while teaching is taking place.
6. All uses of technology shall be directed toward enhancing the Participants’ learning experiences: score study, taking notes, recording class performances, etc. Participants are expected to operate in a professional manner and should therefore refrain from utilizing technology in a manner that would cause distraction in the learning environment. To that end, all alerts should be silenced.
7. Posting photography and recordings of students’ performances on social media is permitted and encouraged, provided that permission has been given by all involved parties. However, posting videos of masterclass lessons or faculty performances on social media is strictly forbidden. The information conveyed at the courses is the intellectual property of the faculty.
8. Participants shall behave in a respectful manner toward the physical property at all times. All garbage and recyclables shall be disposed of in a mindful and proper manner. All participants are expected to leave facilities in the condition that they were found- clean and with all property intact.
9. Participants shall behave in a respectful manner toward the physical property of all exhibitors. No instrument shall be removed from the exhibit hall without prior permission from the exhibitor(s). Any damage(s) to exhibitor property will be financially remedied by the responsible Participant(s).
10. Practicing outside of practice rooms and designated performance spaces is not permitted without prior permission from the MPIMC Faculty.
11. Participants acknowledge that they are responsible for the safety and security of all of their personal belongings at all times.
12. Participants acknowledge the importance of being aware of their surroundings. Participants are expected to travel in groups after dark and to look after one another, using extreme caution while on trails, always walk/hike on trails.
13. Quiet hours at the Alphotel and Chalet are from 9:30pm-8:30am. Practicing during quiet hours is forbidden. Congregating in common areas during quiet hours must be done respectfully. Please make every effort not to slam doors or make loud noises.
14. The buildings are non-smoking facilities. Damage to units caused by smoking will be financially remedied at the Participant’s expense.
15. The illegal use of controlled substances is strictly forbidden. Should the faculty of the MPIMC observe a violation of Federal Law pertaining to this matter, Law Enforcement will be called and the student will be asked to leave the course without a tuition or housing refund.
